If you want to learn heaps about web design and build, get onto some of the Forums and get into discussions. I have found that you learn much more this way than trying to plough through tutorials and giving up in boredom. If you have a particular problem, post it and you will almost invariably find that some kind person will come to your rescue.

Have a nice day!

scouser

http://www.mouseonthemove.co.uk

HTML/CSS/XHTML etc,etc??????????

Do you know what has really p***ed me off about web site design? When you start to look at what you need to learn, all the advice is "Learn basic HTML". So you learn the basics of HTML, only to be told " Great! Only that is going out in favour of XHTML"!!! And you try to make your website as accessible as possible only to find that you need to learn all about CSS - except that there is a lot of conflicting advice out there on how to use CSS for certain positioning!!! Stop the world, I want to get off!! For goodness sake, I am starting to like CSS for some things but why is " center" deprecated? Has it got leprosy or something It works admirably! If it ain't broke, why fix it?

scouser

http://www.mouseonthemove.co.uk

Addendum

I should have mentioned the address of the site I am building it is at http://www.mouseonthemove.co.uk . The site consisted of a home page with a link structure in JS, no text to speak of, a page with his CV on and a whole series of blank pages!! At that point, I knew nothing at all about web site design but the friend toddled off and left the whole thing to me. Since then I ahve had to learn about HTML, Dreamweaver and a lot of other things. I am now moving on to learning CSS and accessibility. I have totally redesigned the site but it is still "a work in progress"! I am hoping that other learners might join in this blog so that we can learn together.
